on to the george washington brigs ever bridge. the bridge scandal for the chris christie administration is about using a public resource. about using the world's busiest bridge as a weapon to apparently inflict some sort of petty political vendetta which still has not been splanld. at least at this point we haven't seen the profit motive. it is the investigation into that scandal, the thousands of pages of documents that have been handed over and the intense investigative scrutiny from federal prosecutor and especially from the media that has uncovered a newly sordid picture of you how it works. it is not just in camden, not just the bald old days. it is in the richest agencies of the state. and yes, it is different than having numbs write about your blatant issues. the problem of polluted governance in new jersey is the same. we got newly unredacted documents today from the new jersey legislature. these same documents that we had earlier. we just have fewer things blacked out with a sharpie marker. one of the lines that used to be blacked out but is not anymore is this one. it is in the middle

's voices on those 911 calls proving, again, that that is not true. and he was not the only chris christie ally advancing that untrue story about how nothing that happened on the bridge that week affected public safety. the head of the police union and close ally of governor chris christie, he defended the lane closures, quote, was there any ambulance delay? no police service delay? no. yes, actually. there were delays as a result of that fake traffic study, which was some politically motivated vendetta against that town that still hasn't been explained. paul nunziato has apparently reduced his role in that job. for his part, bill barone has reportedly resigned. so we learned something about this basically still unexplained story. we learned when chris christie's chief of staff briget kelly ordered up those traffic problems, she really got what she wanted. they ordered that up and in many ca cases it had serious consequences to the people in that town. it was serious to the people involved in those accidents, those four people who waited double the amount of time they should have waited. b

. thanks so much for joining me. chris christie going back to his political roots today holding his second town hall of the year in morris county, new jersey. that's where christie began his political career some 20 years ago. our chief congressional correspondent, dana bash, has more from washington. good morning, dana. >> good morning, carol. it is 111th town hall. who is counting, right? he is known for in new jersey for doing this kind of back and forth. it is something that he and his aides believe has helped with his popularity there. he is going to need all the help he can get because, never mind nationwide, even in new jersey, he has seen his popularity plummet because of all the scandals that are surrounding him. the name of the game for him at this point is really to just keep his eyes on his current job, his day job, to be the governor of new jersey, to have these kind of town halls. the last one that he had was about sandy relief. this is going to be more focused on the big speech that he gave yesterday, which is his budget. if you look at the kind of budget that he proposed, o

scandal that won't go away for new jersey governor chris christie. those tapes which were recorded during that massive traffic tie up on the george washington bridge were released by emergency officials in ft. lee, new jersey. cnn is going through the recordings right now. investigative correspondent joins us from washington. he's one of the guys going through those records. tell us more. >> reporter: good morning. we have more than 20 hours of 911 tapes during that week where the bridge lanes were closed. remember ft. lee was hardest hit by those lane closures, two of the three lanes from ft. lee on to that bridge was closed. and that really made ems officials very concerned. at the time the ems coordinator there wrote a letter and said trips that should have taken a few minutes took more than three times that long. so these tapes are a real-time window into the havoc that this traffic jam was causing. if you remember there was a story of a 91-year-old woman who had a heart attack. the paramedics were caught in some of that gridlock. her daughter later said she didn't think the gridlock
